Archaeo-Environment was established in 2003 by Caroline Hardie, the former County Archaeologist and Head of Conservation for Northumberland. Since its foundation the reputation of the company has grown and grown and we now have a broad client base covering a range of heritage environment services. In 2006, to cope with increasing demand, and to broaden the range of services offered, Penny Middleton was taken on as Senior Archaeologist. More recently, in August 2008, Niall Hammond joined the team as Principal Heritage Consultant. Together, Caroline, Penny and Niall can offer over fifty years experience of professional archaeology and a wealth of first hand experience covering a broad spectrum of sites and projects.
In addition to our core staff we also have a wide network of tried and trusted specialist who we call upon depending on the size and requirements of the job. These range from field archaeologists to artefact specialists, landscape architects, environmentalists and marine biologists.
Based in the North of England we have offices near the beautiful medieval market town of Barnard Castle, serving Cleveland, Cumbria and North Yorkshire, and in the historic cathedral city of Durham, serving Tyne & Wear, Sunderland, Durham and Northumberland. We also provide services across the UK with key projects in the Midlands and Scotland. However, the North East is our home and our staff have considerable knowledge of its history, development, building forms, issues, constraints and potential.
