Geophysical Survey
Using a series of techniques, geophysical ‘anomalies’ are plotted out which may be associated with underground features (walls, cooking hearths etc.). This provides a picture of the potential archaeology to be encountered and is usually used to determine the placement of trial trenches. However, this type of survey can also be used to identify possible archaeological ‘hot spots’ and allow you to modify your development proposals to avoid these areas.
