Heritage Statements & Heritage Impact Assessments

A heritage statement sets out to examine what is special about an historic place, building or archaeological monument and helps to guide future development or changes to protect the heritage interest while still allowing it to adapt to present day needs. This ensures that when planning applications, scheduled monument or listed building consents are submitted, that the development proposal has a greater chance of conforming to national and local planning policy. The heritage impact assessment helps the local planning authority or conservation body understand how proposals will affect buildings or places at a glance.
