History in your home
Ever wondered how old your house is? Who lived in your house in the past? Why is that staircase in such a funny position? Why is there a thick wall in the kitchen and a blocked window in the attic?

Your house is full of clues to the past. We can research your house to find out its date, how it has changed and who lived there over the centuries. We will research any house of any date using historic mapping, trade directories, census returns valuation rolls and historic photographs and drawings. We can survey your house producing annotated ground plans for each floor and elevation drawings showing the different phases of building work which have taken place over the centuries.

We can offer advice on how to look after historic properties (anything before the 1950s), what features to cherish and how to replace those that are lost. We can even help with furnishings, fixtures and fittings, all presented in an illustrated bound report and CD.

We can also start you off researching your family tree detailing the history of your ancestors over the last two centuries as they appear in the census data. Depending on the location of your family we may be able to continue research into the parish registers, birth and death records, immigration records and mine employment books to find out more about your heritage. Whatever your interest, our service helps you to discover your roots.

If you would like an informal chat about our research services then please give us a call on 01833 650573, or 0191 3750943; alternatively e-mail us at info@aenvironment.co.uk.
