The nice things people say about us
We were archaeologists em and we pretended to be archaeologists. Em digged and shovelled and we found some old pottery and we made up a story oh about a girl called Rachel. We went round and round with the crayon and did a rubbing

This is not only an excellent record of how we got to where we are in terms of decoration but also puts forward a logical and restrained approach to the next phase, as you highlight, the use of colour will only really be appreciated when it is done and the natural lights shows it in its true form in the proposed locations.
Bryan Harris, Conservation Officer, Durham County Council
Congratulations on an excellent piece of work and one that will serve the interests of the National Trust in Ormesby for many years to come..
Stewart Ramsdale, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council on Ormesby Parkland Restoration Plan
So a note to say many, many thanks from us all here at EARA for all your good advice, help and support and the report you wrote for us too, of course. Your involvement was very worthwhile for us and much appreciated, especially your ability to do all the work so swiftly and at such short notice. Your report will also contribute towards our new local neighbourhood plan which we are beginning to do next (to try and help stop things like this happening again!). Do keep in touch and if you ever need a reference from us for other community based work you are pitching for, don’t hesitate to ask. I would be very happy to help.

The Morritt on production of a heritage statement
“Thank you so much. I know this could be considered a necessary evil for people wanting to make improvements to old buildings and to move forward with their plans without delay but I was up until the wee hours this morning thoroughly engrossed in your wonderful statement. Thank you also for the speed in which you have completed this - so worth waiting for!”
You wonderful woman!
Sandra Manson, Director, Signet Planning
Caroline produced a very informative assessment of the site with some key recommendations that have now been taken forward and built into future projects. The work was produced on time, close to the brief set and most importantly within budget.
Easington District Council
Thank you again for taking us out and about, the kids don't often get the chance and really enjoyed themselves. All day they've been coming to me with ideas so you must have really stirred their imaginations.
The reports were satisfactory in every way. Ms Hardie compiled exactly to the brief as given. Her desk research was extremely thorough. The reports, complete with maps, diagrams, photographs and detailed bibliography, were attractively presented on time. Much fieldwork was involved here, Ms Hardie was highly competent and established a good rapport with residents of the village she visited.
The Weardale Society
The stone was big and large and we dressed up and we went in the sand pit and we saw the big rock there. Em well we found some old cars and boats and a piece of pottery and money. They were very old. Its archaeology and that’s all.
Findley Hardie-Hammond, then age 3, now applying to university to study History and Politics
...what a marvellous job you did on the SW Durham Heritage Corridor study. But then I wouldn't expect anything else.
Durham County Council
...the final report ...looks very good, congratulations. Just thought I should express my personal thanks to you all for all the hard work involved... The report is going to be a key stepping stone in us caring for this site - I know I will be making much use of it!
Northamptonshire County Council
Dear Caroline, I have really valued your support over the last year. Working with people who are competent, pleasant, committed, reasonably priced...is a pleasure. So 'thank you'. Looking forward to 2012 - and to continuing to work with you.

“Received your finished CMP [Conservation Management Plan] from Emma. I read it on Saturday night.......absolutely marvellous report and I actually had a dream about it! This report has, for the first time I’ve seen, put together the entire dock’s history and secured its future in more ways than one.....thanks to you and Easington.”
Norman Conn, Seaham North Dock Development Officer
I found [the report] to be very comprehensive and the best cultural heritage assessment I have read to date.
J. Rankin, Engena
As ever, simply a delight to spend the afternoon consuming your soufflé of a draft report on Ormesby. A lovely, clear, humorous and inspiring presentation of some (typically) thorough work, in my view.
Mark Newman, The National Trust on Ormesby Parkland Restoration Plan
I have been working with the Limestone Landscapes Partnership since September 2009 and have worked closely with Archaeo-Environment’s Niall Hammond through our commissions: Historic Environment Action Plan and Historic Buildings Audit and Action Plan. Throughout these pieces of work, Niall has acted not only in the most professional manner but has produced first class, absolutely thorough reports that are written in the most reader friendly way, annotated with superb photos, maps and important quotes. Always eager to help and with a wealth of information, Niall and his associates are likely to produce work of exceptional standard. I have no hesitation in recommending him.
